Temperatures in Minnesota last week were slightly above normal overall with high temperatures in the 80’s most of the week. Most areas received at least some rainfall again last week, with an additional 0.5 – 2.0 inches in most growing areas (more in south and east areas this week, less in west and northwest areas). High temperatures are forecasted to be below normal much of this week (high temperatures in the upper 60’s to upper 70’s) before starting to warm back up towards normal (low 80’s) again by next weekend. There were chances of rain early this past week and again later in the week, although, it appears to be more scattered and isolated than in recent weeks.
Corn planting is behind in schedule due to wet conditions with 86% of the acres planted to date. The first tassel is showing in the Central Sands area.
